Streatham Minicab | Streatham Minicab Service | Minicabn From Streatham

STREATHAM SOCIETY MEETINGS & EVENTS:-
The Streatham Society requested that this planning application be refused on
the following grounds
1. The proposed development would appear unduly prominent and overbearing
within the existing streetscape.
2. The proposed development would result in a number of buildings of monolithic
appearance which would be detrimental to the Conservation Area within
which it is situated.
3. The proposed development would create an unacceptable increase in a sense
of enclosure and have an overbearing impact to the detriment of the amenity of
occupiers of neighbouring properties.
4. The design of the proposed buildings would not enhance the Conservation
Area within which they would be situated.
5. Little or no green landscaping had been included in the more public areas of
the proposed developments.
6. There is a serious loss of leisure facilities and it is not clear what amenity
facilities will replace them.
The amount of affordable housing does not comply with Lambeth Councils own
policy.

Through chairman, Brian Bloice, the Society addressed the Lambeth Council
Cabinet meeting in December on the subject of the Streatham Lodge Conservation
Area (streets south of Streatham Common) in connection with the regulations
(Article 4 Directions) regarding the care of properties on the Streatham
Lodge Estate and the adjoining Wellfield estate (both given the generic name of
the Streatham Lodge Estate). The Society supported the retention of the regulations.
At the end of the meeting the Lambeth Council Cabinet recommended:
a) That it is clear that there is a desire for conservation across the entire area.
b) That there are mixed views and some confusion about what the Article 4 does
in some of the roads currently identified in the Wellfield estate area, in particular
Cedarville Gardens and the eastern end of Heybridge Avenue.
